The Joys of Blogging, Restaurant Week, and Squirrel Appreciation Day

First, I would like to apologize to the six people who actually read my blog, since it is a couple of days late. I got tied up in a horrible holiday season wine induced family gathering that lasted way too long and once I got the ropes lose had to stab my way out of it. To my faithful readers: “I am Sorry.” Speaking of blogging, not a lot of people ask me, “J.T., your style of writing is so amateurish; your grammar is horrible, punctuation is hardly ever used properly, and you tend to use quotations too often and in the wrong places. What gives? Who are you influenced by? Did you graduate from anything?” Well the quick answers are: It’s not going to the state fair; Gary Larson of The Far Side comic strip fame, Dr. Seuss, and Dianetics, the pop up, scratch-n-sniff edition; yes I took a class at Center Collage in Danville Kentucky called “The Art of Walking” (got a C- if you must know, course was a lot harder than you would think, but that’s still passing!).

Now on to a great deal, January 13th is the start of San Diego Restaurant Week! Twice a year we along with over 180 San Diego restaurants partake in Restaurant Week. From Sunday January 13th to Friday the 18th we roll out an awesome three course menu for $40 from our executive chef Stephanie O’Mary-Berwald creative mind that showcases the finest our local purveyors have to offer. But at over a 180 spots to chose from what are you to do? Don’t mind the other restaurants just focus on us! Hit us up for all six nights and try something new each night! I’ve also paired it with an awesome Pinot Gris I stumbled upon from Russian River Valley and a very cool red blend from the land down under. We will see you soon.

On a serious note January 21st is National Squirrel Appreciation Day; this is not to be confused with Squirrel Awareness Day which is in October. (Don’t believe me? Look it up!). I will buy the first 5 people that wish me Happy Squirrel Appreciation Day their entrée that evening for dinner.*

J.T. Hutchens, Wine Director, Sommelier, wanted in 22 States for awesomeness, and 10th member of the Wu-Tang Clan.

*Offer good for first five people that wish it to me directly after 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Must say “Happy Squirrel Appreciation Day”, bonus appetizer to the first person who also says it in Spanish. Void where prohibited, no cash value, this offer can not be combined with any other offers or promotions.
