To the 22nd Century and Beyond!

Welcome all to the first in our series of blogs about wine, spirits, beer, life, pop culture and anything in between. Pacifica has always tried to be on the cutting edge of all things cool and exciting and now we are blazing an electronic trail across the “average” dining experience. We have recently upgraded two areas in our restaurant. One that if you like to indulge in adult libations you will recognize immediately upon sitting down, and one that might slip by even the most trained eye. Let’s start with the not so obvious one first. At Pacifica we used to rely on candle fuel to keep our tables at night lite. Well one day our General Manager Eliah Smith had a vision, (or saw a really cool late night infomercial). He decided to move into electronic candles, and boy are they cool. They even flicker like a real candle.

Now let’s get to the even cooler subject: iPad wine and spirits list. Starting in June we switched over all of our wine lists to iPads! All 225 wines by the bottle, 25 wines by the glass, 20 plus beers, over 200 Vodkas, and countless other spirits are now at the tip of your fingers in an easy to use electronic format. This fall we will also be switching over our sister restaurants, Pacifica Seafood Restaurant in Palm Desert and The Cliffhouse in La Quinta. The iPads allow us to get a large amount of information to our guest in a quick and easy way for them to digest it before they start to digest our awesome food. Now if you’ve been living under a rock for the last 8 years and have never operated a smart phone, tablet or even a computer than this might be a shock for you. However these things are even simpler to use than a traditional list. Just ask my 89 year old grandmother who can’t get her DVR to record Murder She Wrote but can easily order her favorite glass of Sauvignon Blanc. (It’s Kim Crawford by the way).

So don’t be afraid to embrace the future, come on down to Pacifica Del Mar and utilize our awesome new iPad wine lists to order one of our amazing drink libations or an old classic wine. See you next month!
